About Oklahoma Beltane

Our Mission

Oklahoma Beltane is a living tradition dedicated to connection, love, and community resilience. We gather in sacred relationship with the land and one another to celebrate the season of Beltane through ritual, learning, shared nourishment, and collective presence.

Rooted in earth-honoring spirituality and shaped by and for people who know what it means to live in the margins of a struggling society, we strive to create a gathering where all are invited to show up as their whole selves. We honor difference, lived experience, and the wisdom earned through adaptation and care.

Guided by values of transparency, consent, and shared stewardship, we believe that community is something we build together — through participation, accountability, and mutual support. Oklahoma Beltane is both a celebration and a practice ground for the kind of village we are learning to create.

What We Mean by Community

At Oklahoma Beltane, community is not just a group of people gathered in one place — it is a living practice. Every participant, volunteer, staff member, and board member contributes to the care, safety, and vitality of the gathering. Community is both what we build together and what we tend individually.

Connection and Presence

Community begins with presence: being fully engaged, attentive, and respectful of those around you.

Listening, empathy, and participation are the foundation of shared experience.

Every person’s voice, experience, and expression is honored.

Rights Within Community

As part of Oklahoma Beltane, you have the right to:

  • Safety: A space free from harassment, exploitation, or coercion.
  • Respect: Recognition of your identity, boundaries, and personal choices.
  • Participation: Opportunities to engage in ritual, workshops, work, and celebration on equitable terms.
  • Support: Access to resources and care within the limits of the gathering, including accommodations for dietary, mobility, or accessibility needs.

Responsibilities to Community

Being part of the Oklahoma Beltane community also means you are committed to:

  • Consent and Boundaries: Honor others’ physical, emotional, and social boundaries. Ask first, respect “no,” and model safety in all interactions.
  • Stewardship: Help care for the land, shared spaces, and communal resources. Small acts of attention — picking up after yourself, helping in the kitchen, contributing to work parties — support the whole.
  • Accountability: Own your actions, speak honestly, and engage with conflict constructively. If someone’s behavior causes harm, take responsibility for repair.
  • Participation in Love: Bring your whole self to the gathering — with openness, respect, generosity, and curiosity. Share your skills, presence, and care in ways that strengthen collective connection.

Building and Supporting the Community

Community at Oklahoma Beltane is active, not passive. Every attendee, volunteer, and staff member is both a recipient of care and a steward of care. Supporting the community means:

  • Contributing to rituals, meals, or work tasks when possible.
  • Sharing knowledge, skills, and experiences to enrich others’ participation.
  • Being mindful of the energy you bring — generosity, patience, and presence are as essential as your physical participation.
  • Upholding the gathering’s values in speech, action, and relationships.

Together, these practices create a living, breathing community rooted in love, sustainability, shared responsibility, and celebration. Oklahoma Beltane is not just an event — it is a space where we cultivate the skills, relationships, and consciousness necessary to create the kind of village we hope to live in.
